Just about every boatyard uses the expression, “On time and on budget.” But in reality, how many major build or refit projects meet those criteria? Very, very few, if any. There is a plethora of factors working to prevent a project from coming in on time and on budget.

Traffic seemed significantly down at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. But there were some encouraging signs. One of these is that the industry as a whole appears to be “retooling,” with firms revamping their business models to cope better in leaner times.
